Description
Global Warming at the Poles Assembly for Key Stage I
Global Warming at the Poles Assembly for Key Stage I is a Key Stage I adaptation of two scripts I wrote for Key Stage II – Our World and Poles Apart. It features a selection of animals from the Arctic and the Antarctic, plus some scientists speaking of global warming … and a snowman!
Lots of jokes, poems, songs and light banter – along with some ‘serious stuff’ on global warming.
Cast of 30
Duration: Around 20 – 30 minutes
Sample Text:
Child 15: Polar Bear
Child 16: Penguin
Child 15: (Turning to Child 16) What are you? I’ve never seen anything like you in all my life!
Narrator: And there’s a very good reason for that. Penguins don’t live in the Arctic!
Child 16: Oops! Sorry! I was forgetting.
Narrator: Yes?
Child 16: That I live in the Antarctic.
Narrator: Correct! So, let’s see what animals live there!
(Again, children take off ‘winter clothes’ to show animal costumes underneath)
Child 16: Penguin
Child 17: Seal
Child 18: Walrus
Child 19: Blue Whale
Child 20: Albatross
Narrator: So, no land-living animals in Antarctica, correct?
(Antarctic animals nod in agreement)
(Enter nine scientists, all wiping their brows)
Scientist 1: Phew! It’s a bit warm round here. That’s global warming for you!
Narrator: But isn’t that good? It can’t be much fun being freezing cold all year round!
Scientist 2: (Sighing). I can see this one needs educating! A few questions.
Scientist 3: What is frozen water?
Narrator: Ice! That’s easy!
