Teddy Bears Assembly is, not surprisingly, all about …. Teddy bears! It can be a celebration of the children’s own teddy bears; or a celebration of famous teddy bears; or both!

How could any assembly fail – with Pudsey Bear as the star guest? And with that collection of unbearably funny jokes at the end ….. Your school’s in for a real treat!

Pudsey:                And a very good morning to you, too! (Turning to cast) Wow! Am I in good company!

(Everyone holds up their teddy bear, cheering)

Narrator:             Yes. A truly teddy fabulous cast, this morning!

Pudsey:                So. Could we meet them all, please?

(Each child steps forward and gives name of teddy plus a little background information)

Narrator:             (Applauding) Wonderful! Wonderful! And could we hear a little about some of those other great bears that we all love?

Child 1:                 You mean (holding up bear) Winnie the Pooh?

Music 2

(Whole cast singing)

Pudsey:                Ah! A great bear indeed!

Child 2:                 But did you know he was actually named after a real bear that Christopher Robin used to visit at London Zoo?

Child 3:                 That is, the real Christopher Robin – the son of A.A. Milne who wrote all the books.

Pudsey:                Ooh! My! These bears don’t look very happy!

Bear 1:                  Nor would you be

Bear 2:                  If someone had eaten your porridge

Bear 3:                  Broken your favourite chair

Bear 1:                  And slept in your bed!

Pudsey:                (Tutting) Goldilocks! You should be ashamed of yourself!

(Goldilocks bows her head in shame)

Music 3

Super Ted:          Never fear! Super Ted is here! Whatever your problem, I’ll fix it! (To Three Bears and Goldilocks) No more long faces! Take me to that cottage in the woods and I’ll sort everything out!

(Exit Super Ted, following Goldilocks and Three Bears, all smiling and waving happily)

Music 4

(Enter Rupert Bear and Paddington Bear on pretend ‘cat walk’; each ‘struts’ up and down stage, showing off own costume)

Narrator:             Stop! Stop! Whoever let these two divas in? (Shaking his head in disbelief) Anyone would think we were hosting a fashion show here today!

Pudsey:                (Strutting around) Huh! I hardly think they’re any competition (pauses as he strikes a pose) for me!

Paddington:       What? With that old eye patch thing?

Pudsey:                (Furiously) Excuse me! This just happens to be the very latest in high street fashion accessories!

Narrator:             (Stepping in) Quite so, Pudsey! (To Paddington) I’d hardly call you the best dressed bear in town! And I won’t have anyone insulting our special guest today! So (ushering Paddington and Rupert back to their places) be off with you!

(Exit Rupert Bear and Paddington Bear)

Narrator:             Oh dear! I am so sorry about that, Pudsey!

Pudsey:                Oh don’t you worry!

Music 5

(Enter Care Bears)

Pudsey:                This lot look a whole lot more caring! Do please introduce yourselves

All 10 Care Bears:             We’re the Care Bears!
