SAMPLE TEXT:

Second World War or World War II Assembly

Evacuee 5: I was lucky. Although I got separated from my brother, I was looked after by a very kind couple .. and didn’t want to go back to the grimy old city I’d left.

Evacuee 1:I was so homesick. But my Mum said she could only visit once a month.

Evacuee 2: I wanted to go home too. But it was for our own safety.

(All walk off. The sound of bombs and air raid siren. Air Raid Warden rushes on).

Warden: (grabbing child): Quick! It’s an air raid! If you’re not quick, you’re dead! Get yourself into a shelter now!

Narrator: Yes, once those sirens went on, you really didn’t want to be out in the open. Best be (pointing at 2 adults and 2 children under the table) snuggled together, indoors, under your Morrisons Shelter.

Mum (brandishing Morrison’s bag).

Two for one, this week only!
