Description
The Three Little Pigs – an alternative version for Key Stage II
The Three Little Pigs – an alternative version for Key Stage II is a script for a cast of 8 or 10. It offers an alternative take on this much-loved story, and has some cautionary words about choosing a house in haste! There is, thankfully, a happy ending for everyone … except the estate agent(s)!
The script can be used within the classroom or as a performance piece.
Duration: around 10 to 15 minutes

The Three Little Pigs – an alternative version for Key Stage II Sample Text:
Partner 1: We’re looking for a house!
Big Bad Wolf 1: Well, you’ve come to the right place!
(Aside) Duh! Why else would you come to an estate agent?
Whereabouts are you looking?
Partner 1: Oh, in the country!
Little Pig 1: It’s our first home
Big Bad Wolf 1: (Sighing) So you want something at the lower end of the market?
Partner 1: (Squeaking in alarm) Market? Whoever said anything about a market?
Little Pig 1: (Reassuringly) It’s just a figure of speech. Meaning
Narrator: (Interrupting) Cheap!
Partner 1: Cheap? Oh, that’s all right then.
Big Bad Wolf 1: Sorry if I confused you
(Aside) How much more dim-witted can you get?
Narrator: (Aside to audience) Ooh. That bad feeling isn’t getting any better.
Partner 1: (Aside to Little Pig 1) I’m not sure I like this guy very much.
Little Pig 1: Oh, don’t be so silly. He’s just doing his job!
(Big Bad Wolf looks through some paperwork and then holds a sheet up and hands it to the couple opposite)
Big Bad Wolf 1: There you are! Your perfect first home!
Partner 1: (Spluttering) But, but it’s a haystack!
Big Bad Wolf 1: Well, it’s the only place within your budget! (Pauses) You don’t suffer from hay fever do you?
Little Pig 1: Well, no. But is this really the only place you have?
Big Bad Wolf 1: I’m afraid so. And given its prime location
Partner 1: In the middle of a field!
Big Bad Wolf 1: I don’t suppose it will be on the market for long!
Little Pig 1: Oh dear! Then we should act quickly. We’ll take it!
Partner 1: (Exclaiming) What? But who wants to live in a haystack?
Big Bad Wolf 1: Oh, you’d be surprised!
Narrator: (Aside) Very surprised!
Big Bad Wolf 1: Everyone’s looking for a haystack to live in, these days!
Partner 1: Really? It seems rather an odd choice
Big Bad Wolf 1: (Tapping side of his nose) Not if you are in the know! Take it from me, this is a highly sought-after property! It will be gone by tomorrow!
(Little Pig 1 jumps to his feet)
Little Pig 1: Right! That decides it, then! We’ll have it!
(Big Bad Wolf stands up and stretches over to shake Little Pig I’s hand)
Big Bad Wolf 1: A wise investment! You won’t regret it!
Narrator: (Aside) So I wonder why I have a really bad feeling about it?
