Snow White Readers Theater An Alternative Version of the Brothers Grimm fairy tale is one of a series of fairy tales, given an alternative twist, and presented in Reader’s Theater format.
Cast of 6, Duration around 15 – 20 minutes. Plus synopsis, teaching input, discussion and suggestions for further follow-up activities.

Mirror: Listen and learn. See, it all started with another question that the queen put to me.
(Mimicking Queen) ‘Mirror, mirror on the wall. Who is the fairest of them all?’
Narrator: And?
Mirror: And I replied ‘Why, you oh queen are the fairest of them all’.
Narrator: So why was she in such a bad mood just now?
Mirror: Because my answer just now, as opposed to all those years ago when the king had only just re-married, was a bit different!
Narrator: You told her, Snow White was the fairest of them all, right?
Mirror: Very good. You catch on quick!
Narrator: And it didn’t occur to you such a vain creature as the queen might be just a tiny bit ‘miffed’?
Mirror: Well, she’s always wanted the truth before.
Narrator: I think you’ll find, she’s always said she wanted the truth. That’s very different. And now you’ve gone and signed Snow White’s death warrant!
Mirror: Oh, you mean the huntsman taking her for a walk in the woods?
Narrator: (Laughing) Taking her for a walk in the woods? For a bit of fresh air? I don’t think so! Luckily for Snow White this particular huntsman has a conscience and will bring back a wild boar’s heart – instead of Snow White’s.
Mirror: There you go! No harm done!
